Motivational Quotes That I Love

Most of my regular readers know already that I just love the quote by Calvin Coolidge on persistence.

Today I thought I would share a few more of my all-time favorites.

These have encouraged me, and I hope they will encourage you. I made it a bit more special because you are. And, I do mean YOU. So, if you would like a beautiful copy to hang close by, just click on the download at the bottom. My little gift to you 🙂 because you’re worth it.

Sidenote: Quotes can be taken from a body of work (book, speech, newspapers, etc.) and often times they are.
For ex: The ‘quote’ from John Greenleaf Whittier is a line taken from the poem “Maud Muller”.

It just may turn out that the famous quote you love so much may never have been spoken by the quoted.

Enjoy.

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated failures. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”

~ Calvin Coolidge

“Learn from the past, set vivid, detailed goals for the future, and live in the only moment of time over which you have any control: now.”

~ Denis Waitley

“Books constitute capital. A library book lasts as long as a house, for hundreds of years. It is not, then, an article of mere consumption but fairly of capital, and often in the case of professional men, setting out in life, it is their only capital.”

~ Thomas Jefferson – Especially for Christian!

“Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement.”

~ C. S. Lewis

“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.”

~ Benjamin Franklin

“For all sad words of tongue and pen, The saddest are these, ‘It might have been’.”

~ John Greenleaf Whittier

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore,
is not an act but a habit.

~Aristotle

“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.”

~ Mark Twain

“I don’t believe you have to be better than everybody else. I believe you have to be better than you ever thought you could be.”

~ Ken Venturi

“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.”

~ Jim Rohn

If you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home and think about it.
Go out and get busy.”

~ Dale Carnegie

“Set your sights high, the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now. Realize that nothing is too good. Allow absolutely nothing to hamper you or hold you up in any way.”

~ Eileen Caddy

“The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”

~ Thomas Paine

“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed
is more important than any other.”

~ Abraham Lincoln

Okay, one more:

“Today really does have power, but only if you want it to.”

~ Rob Adelphia

  1. I try to live my life by Twain’s quote.

    • Rob says:

      Hey Jack,

Wait until I post the humorous quotes…Twain owns that market.

If I could only list two people to read quotes from, it would be Twain and Lincoln.
      Franklin and Jefferson next.

      Live it LOUD!

  2. Hi Rob,
Thank you for the inspiration. You always kick butt.
You know that Jim Rohn’s quote is the center of my philosophy! I’m glad you included it here.
I also love Denis Waitley’s quote. It’s a prescription for life, solution to all life’s problems in one tiny sentence!
    Here is mine:
We are not here to live our lives, we are here to create our lives!
    Derek Potocki aka Goalsblogger

    • Rob says:

      Hey Derek,

What’s shaking my friend? Jim Rohn really waxes eloquent, and Waitley is the trend setter (great story).
As for the guy at the bottom, well, I think he may just impact more than both of them.

      Live it LOUD!

  3. I think I’m a quote addict.

Here’s one of my all time favorites. I’ll let it speak for itself. It has so many implications.
“Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time, who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done, if we are always doing.” — Thomas Jefferson

    • Rob says:

      Hey Brother,

Why does it not surprise me Jefferson is at the top of your list?

  5. Eugene says:

You know…I don’t think Coolidge gets enough credit as a president. Why don’t they ever teach about him in school. Not cool. Education system needs a good revamping.

    • Rob says:

      Hey Eugene,

I would agree on a number of levels. That quote is at the top of my list. Pure power.
I hope your new life experiment is rocking my friend. I’ll be over to visit soon.
