Anywhere’s a Better Place to Be

‘Cause I know I’m goin’ nowhere and
anywhere’s a better place to be.
-Harry Chapin

Tomorrow will work.

Next week even better.

Three years from now is fine.

Watch the video clip from the movie Up by Pixar.

We are so good at believing the lies we tell ourselves.

After all,

we really are going to do it, go there, write it, fill in the blank?

At some point, you have to cut the crap.

You have to cut the strings.

You have to unload what it is that is weighing you down.

You have to say goodbye.

You must embrace the unknown.

When that happens.

You will fly.

Watch another video clip of the movie Up by Pixar.

The wind may carry you to and fro.

You may be tossed about.

You may have a bad landing.

But, you will know what it’s like to be in the air.

You also know what’s behind you.

You will no longer have to wonder ‘what if’.

You will know.

You will know.

You also know that anyplace is a better place to be.

So, go get it.

To Your Adventure,
Rob

  1. Hey Rob,

Your style of telling inspirational things is really special. I like how you used some clips from the movie up where anyone, even little ones, can understand what you are pointing out. I guess it’s no sense to live a life full of doubts and fears and that someday, we will all have to make a leap of faith for ourselves. Thanks for the inspirational message Rob.

      Hey John,

Getting a point across doesn’t have to be complicated. We have the idea that the more complicated, the more it will help. How about something easy like: Do something today that will make your tomorrow better?
Easy to understand, yet, profound. Action wins out over fancy words.

      Thanks for the kind words.

      Live it LOUD!

      Rob

I just read a post on FB by a friend who was talking about living in the past. Another friend responded by saying it was ok to live in the past. MY response? You can use the past as a jumping off point to get to where you want to be, but you have to let go or you will never get there! Your post also says the same…you can’t keep doing what you are doing if it’s not working. Thank you for your unique style of writing it really gets to the point in a fun and interesting way.

Let it go! Let it go! That’s what I say to the past. Learn and move on. I cover it in depth in my eBook especially regarding Reggie Jackson and the amount of times that he struck out (a record).
I recently took up hang gliding. I launched solo from about 80 feet hit a gust low to the ground and had a nice little wipe out. The next time I went up I was focused on performing the fundamentals (roll corrections, looking at the horizon, etc.). I didn’t focus on the pain of the scrapes.

Thanks for the input my friend.

      Live it LOUD!

  3. This is such a perfect movie to visually share your message, Rob. There is so much emotion and we can really feel the regret in not living out a dream. And then there’s the joy of finally taking the step toward the dream. I know which emotion I want to carry throughout my life. =)

  4. Jack says:

Hey Rob, that was quite an inspiring post. I have firm belief in the concept of moving on. It also happened with me that carrying on with something has given me the right direction. Thanks for sharing the post.

  5. Dyon says:

I think going anywhere is always better than not going at all. I feel every life has a purpose behind its existence, and this purpose needs to be fulfilled. I would also agree that finding life’s purpose might get difficult at times, but not doing anything will worsen the situation further.

  6. Kyron says:

I liked both the videos. I personally am a huge supporter of saving money, you never know when there will be a rainy day. The second video shows what your will and determination are capable of doing. Rightly has someone said, ‘where there is a will, there is a way.’

  7. James says:

The first video was so emotional. As they say we all have our individual point of view, what I see in that video is a cute relationship between a husband and wife. Though the point of saving money is also noticed by me, but I would like to stress more on the emotional aspect.

  8. Jack says:

The saying “rolling stone gathers no moss” has been justified by your post. I know it might feel pointless at times to continue something without a future but even then I will stress on continuing because it is always better than not doing it at all. Thanks for sharing.

    • Rob says:

Keep on pushing until the pushing becomes pointless. Then, we find something else to push.

      Great points Jack.

      Live it LOUD!

I have a very big problem with taking directions in life. I can’t simply flow with the tide. I have always been in command of my life, I love to decide which path to take. And yes talking about the place, I hate standing still, moving on is life for me. Thanks for the post.

Hi Rob, lovely examples you chose to explain your point. I liked the couplets too, they sound so good to me. I think they will give more than just assurance to a disappointed heart to carry on. Thanks for sharing the post with us.

  11. Alex says:

Hey Rob, I think you are too good at inspiring people. I actually liked the way you organized your post, everything you put in this post gives off inspiration. Starting with the lines, to the videos everything is so confident about life. Thanks a lot for sharing, have a nice day.

  12. Hi Rob,

That is one inspiring article indeed. I have watched Up movie like a hundred times and it still makes me cry like a baby.

  13. I love that film. It made me and my daughter cry. I agree. It’s so poignant..

    Nice and great inspirational post

I completely agree with you and am very glad I could visit your blog and read this post.
It is a very motivational post. The usage of movie shots was even wonderful way to express your thoughts . I love the videos very much . It has a great emotional touch.

I guess it is better we leave all our burdens so that we can fly freely and be happy as anyplace can be a better place. There is no way that you can buy happiness, it totally depends on us. If you leave your sadness and sorrow , happiness itself will get to you.

    Thank you for sharing.
